A grieving mother elephant has been captured desperately searching for its baby days after its tragic death.
The heartbreaking footage was shot after the little elephant died falling off a slope while drinking water from a reservoir in South India.
A herd of elephants had travelled to the Bhavani Sagar Dam reservoir area to have a drink of water.
But while climbing up the steep slope, the baby lost balance and fell to its death.
The one-year-old suffered a serious head injury in the fall and died on the spot.

In heartbreaking footage, she comes out of the jungle to the place where accident happened, and spends a few hours carrying out a frantic search for the baby.
Then exhausted, frustrated and heartbroken, the mother returns to the forest unaware of the fact that she would never be able to see her baby again.
