Grant Denyer claims to have seen a ufo while driving his car through Narre Warren in South East Melbourne when he was aged 19.
Appearing on Seven’s Spotlight on Sunday, the former Sunrise weatherman told investigative journalist Ross Coulthart that he saw ‘a couple of very strange lights hovering in the sky’ that were ‘too bright to be stars or planets’.
The 43-year-old went on to admit that he kept the sighting a secret for a while as you’re often ‘considered a bit of a wack job’.

‘I was driving along the road at night time at about nine o’clock at night,’ Grant recalled. ‘[I] noticed a couple of very strange lights hovering in the sky, and they were too bright to be stars or planets.’
The father of three described the five dots, making up two groups, as ‘bright as a plane but not moving at all’.
When questioned by Ross whether they were satellites and not a UFO sighting, Grant stressed that it was definitely ‘not satellites’.
‘I believe what I saw was some form of UFO,’ he claimed, adding how he kept the sighting a secret for a while as ‘you’re considered a bit of a wack job’.
The former Sunrise weatherman claimed: ‘I was driving along the road at night time at about nine o’clock at night. [I] noticed a couple of very strange lights hovering in the sky, and they were too bright to be stars or planets’
Grant has now done a full 180, appearing on national television to say that he doesn’t care what people think as he knows what he saw.
‘What I saw was real. There were about five lights, and when one left the group to join the others, they hovered there for probably another 10 seconds, and then both groups just went “voom” together and just disappeared,’ he said, while making a dramatic gesture with his hands.

He left the show in 2006 to spend more time with his family, but returned in 2010, eventually resigning again in 2013.
Grant went on to host Channel Ten’s Family Feud from 2014 to 2020, and earlier this year headed into the jungle for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
He is married to Chezzi Denyer, 41, and the couple share three daughters, Sailor, 10, and Scout, five, and three-month-old Sunday.
