Hunter, the K-9 Officer who served in the Middletown Police Department for a decade, was diagnosed with cancer, which he shared with his partner Michael D’Aresta and their colleagues. On Hunter’s last day, his team wanted to express their love and gratitude towards him.a
Hunter served the community with unwavering dedication, putting his life on the line every day to ensure that the neighborhood was safe and sound. However, his contributions to the police force came to a tragic halt recently after he was diagnosed with a serious health condition. According to Middletown K-9 supervisor Sgt. Doug Clark’s online post, Hunter had been unwell for several days, and after conducting tests, it was discovered that he was suffering from a highly aggressive form of liver cancer. The heartbreaking news was that he had to be put down as the medical team could not do much to save his life.
D’Aresta had a difficult time coming to terms with the prognosis for his beloved companion, which ultimately led him to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanize him. However, he found solace in the support of his fellow officers who stood by his side as he held Hunter in his arms outside the veterinary office. Together they paid their respects to the loyal police dog who served alongside them.
Clark wrote a heartfelt message about Officer D’Aresta and his loyal K-9 partner, Hunter. The two have served the city of Middletown with exceptional dedication since 2007. Unfortunately, Hunter’s health has taken a turn for the worse, causing stress for Mike and his family. Despite Middletown’s relatively small population, the touching farewell given to Hunter by the police department has spread far beyond the city limits, creating a lasting legacy that will be remembered for years to come.
