In the video, you can see Mollie the dog nervously sniffing her owner, Ryan Jessen, as she tries to get closer to him while the family holds her back.
Jessen died on Nov. 30, from a ventricular brain hemorrhage at the Rideout Memorial Hospital in Marysville, Calif., according to his family.
“The hospital did the sweetest thing for us and allowed us to bring my brother’s dog in to say goodbye so she’d know why her human never came home. If you knew my brother, he really loved his sweet dog,” Jessen’s sister, Michelle Jessen, wrote on
On the same post, Michelle Jessen went on to say that the family initially thought her brother had a migraine before he had a brain hemorrhage.
The video of Mollie saying goodbye to Jessen was posted by Michelle on Dec. 1 and since then she has received a flood of comments from people around the world offering their support and condolences. The video has been viewed 10 million times.
Since then, Michelle has updated everyone saying her brother’s heart will be donated to a 17-year-old boy whose birthday is on Christmas day.
“As sad as it is to lose Ryan, we know his heart is going to bring so much joy to the family of the recipient. I wish Ryan could know what a difference his heart will make for that young man,” she wrote.
