A young boy burst into tears when his family surprised him with a puppy after he saved up his spare change for 18 months to buy one.
Six-year-old Xander Mellor was visiting his grandparents’ house in Springfield, Illinois, when he received his surprise gift.
In the video, recorded by his mother Natalie Ellenburg, they are both standing at the back door looking out into the garden.
His mother says ‘go look’ as the young boy comically walks around the corner and on to the driveway.
He stands at the door of the car and waits for his grandmother to get out.
His mother tells him to hold out his hands and keep his eyes closed.

He shuffles out of the way of the door as it open and says: ‘Okay, I’m not going to move.’
His grandmother then adjusts his hands and a tiny brown and black puppy is placed in his arms.
Xander opens his eyes and stares in astonishment with his mouth agape.
He smiles and looks up at his mother who asks him: ‘What do you think?’
As he begins to say that he ‘loves it’ he bursts into tears, still clutching the puppy close to his chest.
His family begin to comfort him, which is where the video ends.

Natalie, 25, said her son had been saving every bit of change he had received for a year and a half in the hope of buying a puppy.
She said: ‘Whenever I got back from work, I’d empty my pockets and give him all the change left from the day.
‘However, he did not know he was going to get his puppy so soon as I’d told him we needed to fill one more jar.
‘This is the first puppy we’ve ever had and we’ve named him Marshmallow, Mello for short.’
The pair have since become best of friends and are now inseparable.
