A cameraman who has been fascinated by UFOs since he was a boy has shared a series of hilarious selfies he took with ‘aliens’ when he was accidentally locked in the Roswell museum.
Brit Chris Burton realised a childhood dream when he visited the International UFO Museum and Research Centre in New Mexico during a business trip.
But he was even more over the moon when he realised all the other visitors had left and it was just him, a group of alien models and the potential for some hysterical photo souvenirs.
The 42-year-old set about creating a series of funny poses showing him interacting with his new pals, making a phone call with one and sitting next to another on the toilet.
He has now shared the snaps of himself integrated into the normally out-of-bounds exhibits.
Chris, a freelance photography director from Manchester, said: “I was in Roswell as part of a road trip that started because of a cheap flight. I was shooting stock footage for a TV production company and writing a blog on the days I had free.
“I had two days off in Roswell, somewhere I’d always wanted to visit since I was a kid.
“I thought it would be amusing for friends back home if I take some photos with the displays but didn’t expect an opportunity like this.
“Absorbed in the displays and quite tired from driving – I’d covered 3,000 miles in 11 days. I hadn’t noticed other visitors leave.
“When I finally went to the door it was locked. Although I could hear voices in the adjacent gift shop so I wasn’t overly concerned.
“Armed with my camera, tripod and a remote control I decided to get interactive with the exhibits and have a bit of fun.”
The US city of Roswell found fame in 1947 when a “flying disc” crashed nearby, sparking rumours of alien visitors.
The United States Air Forces claimed it was one of its weather balloons but many weren’t convinced and to this day people still believe a spacecraft from another planet crashed outside Roswell and its occupants were recovered by the military and taken away for secret testing.
