An archaeological survey led by the French archaeologist Charles Texier has uncovered the ancient city of Hattusa, which was the capital of the powerful Hittite Empire at that time.
The city has many well preserved palaces, fortifications, and temples, consisting of a carefully planned network of roads.
There are even huge stone lions guarding the huge stone wall entrance. Not far away is a Yazilikaya temple with beautiful stone statues inside.
Hattusa has a complex history that dates back to at least 2000 BC, when the first Hatian people settled.
The city’s first community is located on the Puya Kali Mountains, providing a strategic perspective and serving as a major commercial center.
The city’s trade network introduced the cuneiform script to record trade transactions, which led to the earliest examples of local Indo European languages.
Although the city was іѕoɩаted, it became a ⱱісtіm of the іпⱱаѕіoп, with eⱱіdeпсe of a successful аttасk around 1700 BC. Despite its fаіɩᴜгe, the city continues to develop.
