“They tricked me into becoming a competitive bodybuilder”: John Cena reveals his bodybuilding past got off to the worst possible start due to the wrong person

A WWE superstar transitioned into a Hollywood actor. This is how the world looks at John Cena, as many have seen him portraying these roles on the screen and arena for a long time.

However, that’s not it as before donning the Peacemaker costume and becoming the 16-time world champion, he was into something else. Cena shared details of a career he initially thought he would make it.

A few years ago, in 2015, John Cena appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” to promote his movie ‘Sisters’. However, Fallon took ‘The Cenation Leader’ into a nostalgic ride on the show.

The comedian showed Cena one of the pictures in which he took part in a bodybuilding competition at the age of 21-year-old. The ‘F9’ star claimed that people “conned” him to take part in bodybuilding competitions, which he wasn’t interested.

The WWE legend said, “I started weight training at 12. My grandfather convinced my dad to buy me a weight bench finally got the confidence to start going to a gym and then they kind of conned me into becoming a competitive bodybuilder and then…”

Clearly, the Trainwreck star had a great physique at he age of 21. Cena would surely be a big name in bodybuilding, he had followed that career. Nevertheless, he joined professional wrestling and became a big star in WWE.

Fallon asked Cena what age he started working out. Clearly, the host was also mesmerized by the body of the 13-time WWE Champion at the age of 21-years old. Fallon ever showed a picture in which Cena has taken part in a bodybuilding competition.

WWE Legend John Cena Reveals the Heartbreaking Reason He Had to Start Working Out at Age 12

John Cena calls entering bodybuilding competition as stupid!

The Cenation Leader is an ardent lover of working out. Even at the age of 45-years-old, he has maintained a crisp physique and workouts regularly. However, it seems he was never fond of a bodybuilding career. When Fallon showed the picture, the WWE legend had some words about that competition.

Cena said, “No I figured out that I made this stupid decision that I wanted to go up on stage and with a bunch of other guys oil myself up. But I’m over it because now I go on stage with a bunch of other dudes and oil myself up…Where I’m going in my life?”

They both started laughing over Cena’s comments. Furthermore, Fallon pointed out Cena had to much oil on his body and was looking more golden than the trophy. He made a joke that the trophy had won the latter WWE superstar, as he was much more golden than it.

Fallon asked about the person who was in the middle raising the hand of Cena. It seems the WWE legend didn’t remember or not wanted to tell about it. Therefore, Cena told the host to interpret the picture by himself as he had no more explanation over it.
