You’re not heavy, you’re my owner: Touched by the moment a dog loyally helps his disabled owner push a wheelchair on the street

This is the touching moment a disabled man in a wheelchair was pushed along by his dog in the Philippines.

Footage shows Danilo Alarcon, 46, making his way down a street in the city of Davao with the help of his loyal pet ‘Digong’.

The seven-month-old dog, named after Filipino president Rodrigo Duterte, can be seen following its master and nudging his wheelchair along with its nose.

Alarcon has been unable to walk since he suffered a spinal injury in a motorcycle accident some years ago.

Onlooker Faith Revilla said her and her husband, Danjo, were driving home when they saw the heart-warming scene

She said: ‘We felt blessed to have witnessed this extraordinary sight of an amazing creature helping its master manoeuvre his wheelchair along Seminary Drive.

‘I mean, I thought it only happens in TV shows, but this was a very real scene.

‘I have no words to describe my emotions right now. May the good Lord bless them both.’

Faith said she pulled over to talk to Alarcon and they later took him for lunch at an all-you-can eat buffet

She added: ‘It was a really beautiful moment when we saw the pair of them. We took Danilo to our favourite buffet. We wanted to treat him.’
