Militão: “I feel motivated to keep making history at the best club in the world”
“Real Madrid are helping me a lot and I’m getting better every day,” he said after signing a contract extension until 30 June 2028.
Eder Militão was interviewed on Realmadrid TV after the player signed a contract extension with Real Madrid which will keep him at the club until 30 June 2028. The Brazilian defender expressed his delight at tying his future to the club: “I’m very excited about this renewal and proud to remain at the best club in the world. It is without a doubt one of the happiest days of my life.”
“Being here is a great and beautiful thing. Being alongside the president and surrounded by 14 Champions League trophies. It’s a source of pride and I feel motivated to keep making history here. Real Madrid is an honour. It’s my home. I feel very good here with my teammates and it’s where I’ve learned a lot of good things. It’s a club that has been very special to me since I first arrived here.”
On his recovery“I’m getting better every day and I’m gradually doing the things I’m being asked to do. I’m following the plans of the doctors and the physios. Real Madrid are helping me a lot. The facilities here and being with everyone makes you feel important and gives you a bit of life and joy. There’s no reason to be discouraged.”
A special memory as a madridista“I will always remember Vini Jr.‘s goal in the Champions League final because since I left Brazil it was a dream of mine to play in a Champions League final and when Vini Jr. scored I was very emotional.”
His evolution as a person and as a footballer“My time here and the games have helped me a lot as a footballer. You arrive at the best club in the world and you understand from the start what Real Madrid is about. As a person I’ve changed a lot mentally.”
Qualities to succeed at Real Madrid“You have to understand that you must always play to win, every game, and always love the crest you wear.”
Real Madrid dressing room“It’s a very joyful dressing room. There’s banter between us and it’s a dressing room with a great atmosphere. There’s no bad feeling, just good-hearted people who try to help each other. It’s a great changing room.”
Why did you and your teammates choose to stay at Real Madrid for so many years?“The best in the world have to be at the greatest club in the world. Young players want to be here because it’s a special club. Pretty much everyone wants to be here. We have to take the opportunity we have here and do the best we can.”
Playing at the new Bernabéu“It’s a great stadium. It’s really nice. The fans encourage us and support us. They’re great fans and we know how fond they are of us and how much we are of them. It’s very special to play at the Bernabéu with these fans.”
Florentino Pérez“He’s a person of honour in football. Just by saying his name you know his story and you don’t need any more. He means a lot of things to us. He’s a very kind and loving person to all of us. He’s an unbelievable person.”
